About
CatsWhoBlog.com has been created on October 10, 2009 as a sister-site to my established web development blog CatsWhoCode.com.
Originally, Cats Who Code had a “Blogging Tips” section where I shared my tips about succesful blogging, but as time passed by it appeared that most Cats Who Code readers were especially interested in Web Dev and Web Design articles.
This is why I decided to create Cats Who Blog: To focus on blogging tips and tricks to make money online.
About Jean-Baptiste Jung – Primary author
My name is Jean-Baptiste Jung, but most online people simply call me Jean. I’m 29 years old and was born in Paris, France. I now live in Wallonia, which is the Southern part of Belgium.
I became very interested in computers when I discovered the Internet in 1999. In 2001, I created my first website and started training myself about web languages and Photoshop. Finally, I attended some web development courses in Paris and later became a professional web developer.
As web development was my passion, I couldn’t resist to share it with other people. With no blogging experience, I created a blog in French language, called lyxia.org where I featured web dev tips and tricks. This was in 2007, and that blog barely had more than 100 unique visitors per day, but I discovered that blogging was not only a hobby for me, it was a real passion.
In June 2008, a friend and I decided that we should create a blog in English to reach more people than our respective French blogs did. We created Cats Who Code. Althought we did Digg Frontpage twice in August 2008, it was hard to get traffic, quality backlinks and RSS subscribers.
In the meantime, I decided to create a new blog, 100% dedicated on a software I really love: WordPress. WpRecipes were born, and it was a moderate, but instantaneous success: Two month after releasing the blog, it already had 1000+ RSS subscribers! One year later, success is still here with more than 6000 subscribers and 2000+ unique visitors per day.
2009 was definitely the year where I started to earn a good income with my websites. After I sold lyxia.org for $3500, I invested some of the money earned with my blogs to buy the awesome Photoshop tutorials and resources site PsdVibe.
In July 2009, some days prior to my wedding, my first book, entitled WordPress CookBook was released by Packt Publishing. If you’d like to get a copy, you can buy it on Amazon or directly on Packt Publishing website.
