Promoting your blog is a very essential step in the way to get success in blogging. One of the most common advice gave to bloggers who want to promote their blog is to leave comments on other blogs.

This is true, leaving comments on other blog is a great way to create backlinks to your own site and getting known by the community for your interesting comments. But if you monitor the amount of visitors comming from comment links, you’ll see that they are just a few. But don’t worry, I have the solution.

What’s the Comment Luv plugin?

Comment Luv is a WordPress plugin that visit the site of the comment author while they type their comment and retrieve a selection of their last blog posts, tweets or digg submissions which they can choose one from to include at the bottom of their comment when they click submit.

It has been found to increase comments and the community spirit for the thousands of blogs that have installed it. With a simple install you will immediately start to find new and interesting blog posts, tweets and diggs from your own blog and community.

And now…The list!

Hah! Pick me! Website-In-A-Weekend.net

CommentLuv has made a huge difference for engagement. About half the blogs I follow and comment on now use it.

Why did it take so long?

2 Brandon Cox October 29, 2009 at 11:27 pm

I use commentluv at http://www.weblogbetter.com and at my personal site http://brandonacox.com.

3 Jean-Baptiste Jung October 30, 2009 at 12:02 am

Thanks for letting me know guys! Your blogs have been added to the list!

4 Tom - StandOutBlogger.com October 30, 2009 at 12:11 am

I use Comment-Luv and Keyword Luv at http://www.standoutblogger.com

5 Jean-Baptiste Jung October 30, 2009 at 12:52 am

@Tom : Added StandOutBlogger too!

6 Paul Olyslager October 30, 2009 at 1:22 am

What if people want to “commentluv” a post that has absolutely nothing to do with what your blog is all about or is even offensive, can you (as blogowner) allow the comment but block the “commentluv” itself?

7 BlogInterface.net October 30, 2009 at 1:28 am

I’m using it, too. That is how reciprocity works: I give you (by publishing the readers last blog) and you give me (by commenting my blog, what consequently means traffic).

8 B.Selmani October 30, 2009 at 2:30 am

there’s another blog that use comment luv: http://www.eklipsi.com

9 Lee Ka Hoong October 30, 2009 at 8:31 am

Hey Jean, I feel glad to see you link my blog at the first row, I appreciate it!
You have a great theme and nice blog over here.

Keep in touch Jean!

Thanks,
Lee

@Paul Olyslager : Good question. This is probably one of the cons of Comment Luv, it can in some cases involve more moderation work.

@B.Selmani : Added :)

@Lee Ka Hoong : You’re welcome :)

I have just recently started using this plugin at http://www.threestyles.com and I am very happy with it so far. I love how it gives back to the community!

12 Jean-Baptiste Jung November 3, 2009 at 11:49 pm

@Shane Jeffers : Good to hear! I added your blog to the list!

Hi,

I’d like to add http://www.pink-seo.com to the list, even if it’s nothing to do with me. It’s because of Marie (Pink SEO’s author) that I came across, and translated the plugin in french.

I will also add CL to my next blog (will keep you posted when it’s live).

17 Eugen R. November 9, 2009 at 11:34 pm

I have been using CommentLuv and, although one can’t be truly sure, it indeed made more people comment (sometimes just to self-promote though). Now I have disabled the plugin (because there a way too many plugins I’m using already!) and you know, nothing changed.

(If you would say that you’d include me in the list if I’d enable the plugin again I’d do it, hehe)

18 Jean-Baptiste Jung November 10, 2009 at 12:09 am

@Eugen R : I you re-enable the plugin, I’ll include you in the list :)

19 Eugen R. November 10, 2009 at 12:26 am

Enabled. Test it? :)

20 Jean-Baptiste Jung November 10, 2009 at 1:02 am

Added! The list is now 30+!

Cheers! ;)

22 Indrek November 15, 2009 at 7:12 pm

I also recently added Comment Luv on my blog after seeing it’s effect on several other blogs. I have to admit I like it because commenting has grown a lot. So definitely a great plugin!

23 George Serradinho November 16, 2009 at 7:54 am

Wow, thanks for listing my blog here. I don’t know all the sites, but will be visiting to see what it’s all about.

24 BeyondRandom December 2, 2009 at 10:34 pm

Nice list of sites. A few Im starting to follow now so I guess thats a good plus for having the plugin lol I do tend to comment on blogs that have comment luv more than ones without because of the free promotion. When you leave comments it usually always links your name to your site but with comment luv it displays your latest posts which helps with clicks. I use to use it but started using Disqus to manage my comments so users could log in using Facebook and Twitter but I wish it had the comment luv option :(

25 Senthil Ramesh December 3, 2009 at 9:28 am

Fine. Take me in. I use the CommentLuv Plugin too. BTW, why don’t u use the plugin. Its quite good and we love to see it from your blog too.

26 sriganesh December 5, 2009 at 6:48 pm

thanks buddy, adding me in your list :D , and its true, i got more friends and backlinks thru this plugins and adding another tips : i used twitter ID link plugin (” you have seen in colourburned.com”) i am using this and users can add their twitter Id in the comments and i wrote a custom tutorial on this, and above all this plugin id from commentLuV only.

27 Atniz January 10, 2010 at 11:45 am

Nice list of blogs that uses this plugin. Now, I can get more backlinks to my most recent blog post by just commenting on this blogs. Thanks for sharing this valuable list of blogs.

28 Dick@paysonweb January 28, 2010 at 6:24 am

I use Comment Luv myself on all of my blogs and I follow many bloggers who do but what do you say to someone who criticizes it because you’re linking out to all kinds of content that may or may not be related to your site, and some of those sites may use spammy practices or link to other sites that have spammy practices, resulting in a penalty for you.

29 Mezanul January 30, 2010 at 9:48 pm

I use CommentLuv on my site (http://www.mytechguide.org/) and are also Do Followed.

Thanks for the list, it will help surely! :)

30 Irene February 6, 2010 at 1:50 pm

Nice list, Commentluv continues to expand it’s usefulness, All great innovations to make blogging an easier and more effective medium. Hat’s off to the developers!
The only adverse effect of this plugin that it also brings with it tons of spammers looking to accumulate links. I guess the trick is to have an eye out for the spammers who drop two word comments, looking for quick links.
Thanks!
